چکیده
.For many years, spatial querying has been of interest for the researchers in the CIS community. Any successful implementation and long-term viability of the CIS technology depends on the issue of accuracy of spatial queries. In order to improve the accuracy and quality of spatial querying, the Toblems associated with the areas of fuzziness and uncertainty need to be addressed There has been a strong demand to provide approaches that deal with inaccuracy and uncertainty in CIS. I n this paper, we develop an approach that can perform fuzzy spatial querying under uncertainty. An inexact inferencing strategy for objects with determined and indeterminate boundaries is investigated, using type-2 fuzzy set theory.

L2 Learners’ Lexical Inferencing: Perceptual Learning Style Preferences, Strategy Use, Density of Text, and Parts of Speech as Possible Predictors
This study was intended first to categorize the L2 learners in terms of their learning style preferences and second to investigate if their learning preferences are related to lexical inferencing. Moreover, strategies used for lexical inferencing and text related issues of text density and parts of speech were studied to determine their moderating effects and the best predictors of lexical infe...
متن کاملLinguistic Representation of Imperfect Spatial Information in a Fuzzy Object Oriented Database
In this contribution a representation of imperfect spatial information is proposed based on linguistic qualifiers within fuzzy set theory and possibility theory. By adopting a Fuzzy Object Oriented Database approach new data types for representing geographic entities characterized by either unsharp boundaries or indeterminate boundaries and relationships are defined. Finally, the evaluation mec...
متن کاملFormalizing fuzzy objects from uncertain classification results
Concepts of fuzzy objects have been put forward by various authors (Burrough and Frank 1996) to represent objects with indeterminate boundaries. In most of these proposals the uncertainties in thematic aspects and the geometric aspects are treated separately. Furthermore little attention is paid to methods for object identi cation, whereas it is generally in this stage that the uncertainty asp...
متن کاملTexture-based Segmentation of High-Resolution Remotely Sensed Imagery for Identification of Fuzzy Objects
In this study, we discuss a supervised texture-based image segmentation algorithm. We apply this algorithm to airborne high-resolution elevation (LiDAR) and multi-spectral imagery (CASI) of a coastal area on the northwest coast of England. Texture is modelled with the joint distribution of the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) operator and local variance. Spatial objects are derived from the imagery b...
متن کاملFinite Resolution Crisp and Fuzzy Spatial Objects
Uncertainty management for geometric data is currently an important problem in spatial databases, image databases, and GIS. Spatial objects do not always have homogeneous interiors and sharply defined boundaries but frequently their interiors and boundaries are partially or totally indeterminate and vague. For an important kind of spatial vagueness called fuzziness this paper provides a concept...
